7. SRH International Week 2016
all information for all

This fall, the 7. International Week at SRH University Heidelberg will take place. Last year, we had around 250 international and local students participating in almost 20 different courses.

Under the slogan “UNITED IN DIVERSITY” this year’s International Week will take place from October 10th-14th. Again, we will offer courses in the fields of Global Health Care, Engineering, Intercultural Management and Communication, Start up Ventures and Project Management as well as Marketing, Sports Management and Social Media.Students will have to check the syllabi thoroughly and choose their favourite course (there will be an option for your 2nd and 3rd priority, as some of the courses may be overbooked). From Tuesday until Thursday, there will be classes each day from 9 am to 1.15 pm with the final exam on Friday. After successful participation in the International Week, students will receive a Certificate of Completion and 3 ECTS. Check the time schedule for details.

Application and Registration

The online application for students will open 1 September, 5 pm. Early application is recommended as normally a lot of courses fill up fast. We will have an early on-site registration on 9 October, Sunday afternoon 5 pm – 7 pm for those who will have already arrived during the weekend. All other participants have to register Monday morning between 9 am and 10 am.

Social Monday

The opening session on Monday, 10 am, will consist of activities to get to know each other and will provide you with all the necessary information regarding our International Week.

After lunch at the CUBE restaurant on campus, there will be a first two-hour class for each course (see information at help desk regarding lecture halls and class list).

Country presentations

On Monday afternoon international students who take part in the International Week will have to hold a presentation about their home university. The presentation should contain all important information and not exceed 4 minutes. Please prepare an interesting presentation for the audience! Your presentation could encourage some of the other students to your school for study abroad soon. Presentations have to be handed in beforehand on Friday, 7 October, 12 pm via e-mail or dropbox.

International food tasting

For our International Food Tasting on Monday evening, we invite all the international students participating in the 7. International Week to bring some typical food from their home countries. The International Food Tasting will take place from 5 -7 pm. Please prepare the food in advance or bring finger food. There will be no time or cooking facilities to cook something. Please let us know if you need any support of some kind. Of course you won’t just prepare and offer your own food; you will also have the chance to try some German food as well as dishes international students from other countries had prepared for the tasting.

Social activities in the afternoon

During the week there will be plenty of possibilities to meet the international and German lecturers as well as other students who attend different courses. For example the brewery tour, a company visit at a production plant, guided city tours through Heidelberg, Speyer and Schwetzingen or some walks and hikes. As there are only limited places available in each tour, we will assign places on a first come – first serve basis. For more information check the website.

Party

On Thursday night we invite you to join in the SRH Party for Freshmen in a fantastic hip location in downtown Heidelberg (no entrance fees).

Meals

From Monday to Thursday we will have lunch together at our campus canteen CUBE. Four lunches are therefore included in your package. Upon registration, you will be given tokens for those 4 days, because you cannot pay cash. On Friday, we will have our traditional Farewell Lunch, offering complimentary Chili con Carne or vegetarian soup, topped off with a glass of sparkling wine. Throughout the week there will always be free coffee in our coffee corner at the helpdesk.

Public transport

Heidelberg has a great public transport system, trams, trains (S-Bahn or Straßenbahn) and busses run frequently until late at night. There is a weekly pass (22,70 Euro) for Heidelberg city, which we will include in your package. Depending on the location of the outings, you may have to pay some additional train tickets for destinations that are further away.
