The preliminary course (first six months) starting in October 2020 provides a unique opportunity to complete it in digital classes with lots of space for reflection and individual mentoring. Lectures will take place in interactive video formats with enrolled students coming from different parts of the world and you will also have the possibility to do virtual group works.
After finishing your preliminary course completly online, once reaching Germany you can seamlessly continue your studies in Germany. By selecting this option you will have the possibility of getting €1,500 cashback after arriving in Germany.
Conditions to get the cashback
- You`re a international student who has no possibility to enter Germany
- This cashback is just and only applicable to the six months of preliminary course starting in October 2020
- The entire preliminary course has to be finished in digital form
- Student will not be seeking any university services apart from academic content (e.g. using the campus facilities like Campus Sports, Library, Cube or advisory services from International Office / Student Services/ Career Center)

To be allowed to start the preliminary course you must have a formal university degree (Bachelor, Diploma or Masters) such as Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, equivalent engineering or in economics with a final grade of 2,5.
In addition, proof of English: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 80 (TOEFL code of SRH: 7712), Duolingo Certificate 95, PTE Academic 58 or other proof of English proficiency
Successful participation in an individual qualification assessment = motivation letter + selection interview (online)

Business Preliminary Course
This preliminary course is exclusively for those engineering graduates who want to study International Business and Engineering master degree programme.
Graduates of engineering sciences are required to start with a preliminary course in business studies. They are obliged to pass the preliminary course to enter the regular Master`s program. The duration of the preliminary course is one semester.
Technical Preliminary Course
This preliminary course is for those non – engineering graduates who want to study Water Technology, International Business and Engineering master degree programme.
Graduates of non – engineering sciences are required to start with a preliminary course in technical studies. They are obliged to pass the preliminary course to enter the regular Master`s program. The duration of the preliminary course is one semester.
Our academic year is divided into eight 5-weeks-blocks. For the entire duration of studies, these blocks build on each other with regard to content. Targeted learning is on offer from day one with a university-wide preparatory phase so acquire basic study skills.

Preliminary course outcome
Our preliminary course in the field of engineering and business prepares the students to start International Business and Engineering (M.Eng.) or the Water Technology (M.Eng.) master degree programme. Students acquire the required knowledge and competences which they can utilize during the master degree programme.
