Move your CORE!

Everything worth knowing about the project

Sometimes, studying can be really stressful and take up a lot of your time. So often, it’s sports and physical activity that get cut out of the schedule. But does this have to be the case?

Everybody knows that regular exercise and physical activity positively influence our quality of life and contribute to our well-being and health. They even help reduce stress!

The goal of the “Move your CORE!” project is to make sports fun and accessible to every student, especially during their everyday lives. Whether at lunch break, between or after lectures, or from the comfort of the home – sports and exercise are always possible! Alone or together with your friends, the “Move your CORE” project gives you the opportunity to take part in different exercise programmes or to become active in intramural sports. Furthermore, it’s possible to improve and develop the “Move your CORE!” project as an active team member.

Don’t hesitate to take advantage of these upcoming opportunities to improve your physical fitness with these "Move your CORE" programmes!

Our project in detail

Our project will be represented during the Welcome Days on 1 and 2 October 2020 with a stand at the rally. If you seek information or want to get in shape together with us, you are welcome to visit us near the Campus Sports Centre. For all those who don’t have time during the Welcome Days but who still want to train with us, here is the training schedule (check out Page 4). As always, all participants are eligible for a prize. It’ll be worth your while to sign up!

The “Move your CORE!” project has already facilitated several scientific studies at the Faculty of Applied Psychology since summer 2020 that have been successfully published in the form of scientific theses in the Health Psychology and Psychology Bachelor programmes as well as in the Psychology Master’s programme. For example, we better understand which barriers and challenges need to be overcome to make students more physically active, and how online training (webinars) can make us more mobile.

Do you ever feel like playing Ultimate Frisbee during your lunch break or a round of Viking Chess in the evening? Then you can hire the equipment from us! We’re making it easier to get moving right on campus! Just register at the reception area of the library! And if you have any more cool ideas for sports equipment, simply send us an email with your suggestions: BewegDeinCore@srh.de

Over the course of the coming winter semester 2020/21, we’re planning a bunch of different online services to promote physical activity. We’ll have webinars on topics such as “Defeat your inner couch potato” as well as things like yoga courses. So you can do something for your physical and mental fitness from the comfort of your own home. Get ready for contributions on sports and exercise from experts in the field!

We are currently in the process of providing you with tips and exercises for more physical activity via social media! The “Move your CORE!” project is preparing to launch its own (Instagram/Twitter or whatever) account! Check it out, with clips on endurance, coordination, flexibility and strength!
