U-Multirank: SRH University Heidelberg scores highly in the categories International Orientation and Regional Engagement

SRH University Heidelberg scores top marks again this year in the international comparison of universities U-Multirank. In the Regional Joint Publications category, the university is even among the top 25 performers of all institutions ranked.

When it comes to research, SRH University Heidelberg does not only take a highly practice-based approach, it also cooperates closely with regional partners. In fact, the university is the only German institution to be listed among the top 25 performers in the Regional Joint Publications category of the international comparison of universities U-Multirank. In addition, the university made it to the top group in the Percentage of International Academic Staff category, as well as to the second rank group for both Student Mobility and the Percentage of Foreign-Language Master’s Programmes. The university’s large number of Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates working in the region also led to top marks in these categories. The number of companies newly founded by graduates also enabled the university to score highly.

“Besides emphasising our practical relevance, the results also highlight our regional roots and international orientation,” stated Professor Dr. Carsten Diener, President of SRH University Heidelberg. “Our close cooperation with a large number of partners in the region gives our students the opportunity to learn hands-on, widening their network and ultimately optimising their chances of finding a good job in the region.”

SRH University Heidelberg also scored highly in the International Orientation category. Bettina Pauley, Head of the International Office, pointed out: “Our students are still very mobile; despite the pandemic, they have a continuing interest in going abroad for study purposes or for internships. We provide them with intensive advice and support. But also the many visiting lecturers add an international touch to our university.”

U-Multirank, an initiative of the European Commission, evaluated the quality criteria of over 1,900 higher education institutions in 97 countries this year. The online tool available at www.umultirank.org gives prospective students the opportunity to compare different subject areas and universities around the world.
