International International Week International Week - all information for all

10th SRH International Week 2019
Information for all

This fall, the 10th International Week at SRH University Heidelberg will take place. Last year, we had around 300 international and local students participating in more than 20 different courses.

Under the slogan “Breaking Down Walls” this year’s International Week will take place from October 7-11th. Again, we will offer courses in the fields of cross-cultural business communication, international marketing, social media, entrepreneurship, project management, corporate responsibility and leadership, intercultural issues, international law, engineering and sustainability, as well as health sciences and psychology. Students will have to check the syllabi thoroughly and choose their favourite course (there will be an option for your 2nd and 3rd priority, as some of the courses may be overbooked). From Tuesday until Thursday, there will be classes each day from 9 am to 1.15 pm with the final exam on Friday Morning. After successful participation in the International Week, students will receive a Certificate of Completion and 3 ECTS. Check the time schedule for details.

Application and Registration

The online application for students will open 30th August, 5 pm. Early application is recommended as normally a lot of courses fill up fast. We will have an early on-site registration on 6th October, Sunday afternoon 4pm – 6pm for those who will have already arrived during the weekend. All other participants have to register Monday morning between 9 am and 10 am.

Social Monday

The opening session on Monday, 10 am, will consist of activities to get to know each other and will provide you with all the necessary information regarding our International Week.

After lunch at the CUBE restaurant on campus, there will be a first two-hour class for each course (see information at help desk regarding lecture halls and class list).

Country presentations

From 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m on monday, students from the different partner universities get the opportunity to present their own home university. The slides should last no longer than 3 minutes and have to be handed in either by email to internationalweek@srh.de or on a flash drive one day before the presentation on 6th October – upon registration.

International food tasting

On Monday, starting at 5 pm there will be an International food tasting in the entrance hall - Foyer

All students shall bring something typical from their country (up to 5€ per person) and design their stand/ table.

The food can be stored upon your arrival on Monday in the basement.

Social activities in the afternoon

During the week there will be plenty of possibilities to meet the international and German lecturers as well as other students who attend different courses. For example a company visit at a production plant, guided city tours through Heidelberg and surrounding cities, or some walks and hikes. As there are only limited places available in each tour, we will assign places on a first come – first serve basis.

Party

On Thursday night we invite you to join the SRH Party for Freshmen at a fantastic location in downtown Heidelberg (no entrance fees).

Meals

From Monday to Thursday we will have lunch together at our campus canteen CUBE. Four lunches are therefore included in your package. Upon registration, you will be given tokens for those 4 days, because you cannot pay cash. On Friday, we will have our traditional Farewell Lunch, offering complimentary soup, topped off with a glass of sparkling wine.

Public transport

Heidelberg has a great public transport system, trams, trains (S-Bahn or Straßenbahn) and busses run frequently until late at night. There is a weekly pass for Heidelberg city, which we will include in your package. Depending on the location of the outings, you may have to pay some additional train tickets for destinations that are further away.
