Update on the cyber attack at SRH University Heidelberg

In September 2021, the education and healthcare company SRH and its IT infrastructure fell victim to a cyber attack. Hackers copied some files and partially published them on the darknet. However, the amount of data was comparably very small. The relevant data protection authorities have been informed and involved.

In relation to the SRH Group as a whole, there are very few individual cases where personal data has been published. After reviewing the files published to date, we inform you that a sigle-digit number of employees of SRH University Heidelberg are affected by this. We will contact them personally as soon as possible and also support them in taking appropriate protective measures.

Information for Students

Communication with your faculties

In the meantime, many program directors and administrative staff at your faculties have access to their regular e-mail boxes again, so that you can reach them through them (see above). In some faculties, temporary central e-mail addresses are still active. The central student service can still be reached at the following number: 06221-6799-000. We are happy to help you!

Courses / New QR-Codes

All courses will take place according to schedule. Since Microsoft Teams is currently only working to a limited extent, we are using other online platforms for some online events. You will receive the invitations/links for these from your respective faculties. Campusnet is also affected by the cyber attack and cannot be used at the moment. Don't worry: Exam results from the past are not lost. However, we kindly ask you to be patient for the preparation of certificates and the like.

For the face-to-face events, the “3G” verification requirement still applies. Only persons who are either vaccinated, recovered from COVID19 or tested are allowed to attend a class. For this purpose, new QR codes will be in use starting October 11, 2021. These can be found at the entrance to the teaching rooms. Please scan them before the start of each course to confirm that you meet one of the 3Gs. Instructors will use their own QR code to verify that all 3G confirmations have been received for the course. You should be able to provide proof of this upon request from our staff.

Thanks for your cooperation!

Dear students, we ask for your understanding if there are any unfamiliar processes or procedures at one point or another as a result of the cyber attack. Nevertheless, we will do everything in our power to ensure that your studies run as smoothly as possible, and we very much look forward to seeing more of you on campus in the coming weeks.
