The School of Engineering and Architecture presents the third interdisciplinary Summer School “Neckar Now III: Transformative approaches to a sustainable future – cities for children” taking place from 22nd until 28th of August 2022.
By 2050 it is predicted that 70% of all children will live in cities. However, cities are often not yet adapted to the special needs of their youngest inhabitants - making it all the more important to design attractive and safe living spaces for families and children through child-friendly urban planning.
The Neckar Now Summer School addresses the potential and challenges of a city along the river from an engineering and architectural perspective. Heidelberg provides the perfect setting to learn about current trends and methods of sustainable innovation and design. Field trips, input sessions and expert feedback rounds give the participants the ability to develop different approaches to local problems as well as to create their own projects in an immersive experience. An exciting one-week programme for those considering future studies in Water Technology (M.Eng.) or Architecture (B.A. or M.A.).

The Summer School is funded by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). The funding will support the costs related to study materials, cultural program, excursions, travel (according to country), accommodation and subsistence (250€). Selected students will receive the funding upon arrival at SRH University Heidelberg.
